Did you get engaged this Valentine’s Day? Congratulations from Lesley Cutler Bridal Wear!
Congratulations on your recent engagement! We’re sure that right now you’re on a whirlwind of thrill and excitement and no doubt ‘pinning’ wedding dress ideas already. Are we right?!
Over the years we’ve found that most brides have a pretty clear idea from a young age of how they want their wedding dress to look. It’s something you’ve been subconsciously thinking about since you were a little girl.
But knowing how to go about finding that dream dress or how far out to plan, well you’ve never needed to think about this until now. Knowing when to book your first wedding dress consultation can be a minefield. Let us help guide you.

Once you’ve ‘saved the date’ and booked a venue…
…this is when we see most brides. You’ll know which season you’ll be getting married in and will have an idea in your mind of how covered up you want to be.
Every bride will express her personality and individuality by dressing in something she’s completely comfortable with and suits her style. It’s at this stage that you will probably find that your Pinterest board will start to be filled with dresses that have a similar look and feel – for example all with long sleeves or with a certain depth of neckline that suits your body shape.
Going bespoke – the process starts ten-twelve months before your wedding day
Having a bespoke dress made is a fun, in-depth, personal and completely individual experience. Your bespoke dress will be made exactly to your requirements. We’ll start with a design consultation to sketch ideas and we’ll spend time selecting fabrics and lace from the vast choice we have on offer here at Lesley Cutler Bridal Wear.

Seven to eleven months before the big day
The next stage is the calico mock up (toile) which is the first test-run.
This is your chance to try the dress on before we hand-make it in the actual fabrics. It’s such an exciting stage as adjustments and alterations are made to perfect the fit, shape and style on your body.

Six to nine months before you say ‘I do’
The big moment – the first dress fitting. For the first time you’ll try on your full dress made with all the fabrics, linings and finished except for the hem and fastening. It will give you an exact idea of the finished look. Often, there isn’t a dry eye in the house!
Five to eight months to go
This is when you will have your second dress fitting and if you’ve lost weight or changed body shape then this is easily taken care of. (Plus, at Lesley Cutler Bridal Wear there is no limit to the number of fittings that are offered).
Three to six months and counting
Minor alterations and adjustments will be made and you’ll have your penultimate fitting. This is a perfect opportunity to double check the veil, headdress and accessories all available from our studio. Two to three months before you say ‘I do’ and your finished gown will be ready for you to collect, ready for your special day. Completely yours, without compromise.
At Lesley Cutler Bridal Wear we also create stunning Mother of the Bride/Groom outfits.
